Dear companies, it's 2024, and guess what? Bad data still exists.
If you're still wondering whether MDM, EDM, or Data Governance are important, I have a wild suggestion: Why don't you try... putting some lights on your data? You know, just a little illumination so you can actually see the mess you’ve got.
Oh, you don’t have a plan to identify Master Data or build a Data Catalog? No worries! Just continue to build AI strategy and hope, because that always works, right?
Meanwhile, for the rest of us who like to have a plan, let’s go ahead and strategically identify Master Data sources, build out a centralized Data Catalog, and create a governance framework. You’ll be surprised how much smoother things go when you can find your data, understand its quality, and use it without fear of embarrassing data leaks or costly compliance fines.
So, here's to the enlightened few—keep shining those lights on your data, and maybe, just maybe, others will catch on.
