How do you balance data governance with the execution speed of your agile engineering teams?
Traditional governance functions like a bottleneck—a manual review that stalls deployments right at the finish line.
We must stop treating data readiness as a post-development audit and start engineering it as an automated continuous gate.
The gate happens pre-sprint at the user story level: the Definition of Ready (DoR) Checklist.
A user story cannot be committed to an active sprint unless it proves its data ownership, data quality & lineage is mapped.
If a specific story is non-compliant, that story is blocked individually, allowing developers to continue coding other verified tasks without halting the train.
Because these trust checks are embedded directly into existing agile ceremonies, the assembly line never stops spinning to wait for a manual audit.
You don't protect the enterprise by building walls; you protect it by building an automated assembly line that makes trust completely unavoidable.
