How is your data doing?
Before the start of any journey you need to have a plan.
Likewise all digital transformation journey's need to begin with understanding the current state of processes, data issues and system integration challenges.
I have led many current state assessments and the goal is always to generate a roadmap of future recommendations for business executives and clarify the next step/deliverables.
A typical current state assessment should not go beyond 4-8 weeks. Anything beyond that means you are too much in the weeds(and will have impatient stakeholders).
Make sure you have a comprehensive current state assessment done before creating a roadmap for digital transformation. It will give you clarity and set realistic expectations for implementation of Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data, Reference Data and Metadata activities
